Welcome to the 37th ESVN-ECVN Symposium!

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the European College of Veterinary Neurology, it is our great pleasure to invite you to your 37th ESVN-ECVN Annual Symposium in Bristol, United Kingdom, on the 19th and 20th of September 2025.

Join us for a Southwest experience, the England ‘French Riviera’! Although rain can be part of the party, September in Somerset is often our sunniest month! Bristol (‘Brigg stow’ in old Saxon, meaning the meeting place – a good start!), is a major port city build around the river Avon. It features many cultural sites, from the Clifton suspension bridge across the Avon Gorge to Brunel’ SS Great Britain iron steamer (the first to cross the Atlantic Ocean). You could even spend the Symposium hunting Banksy’s Street art!

We will gather at the Bristol Beacon, an incredible venue: originally named ‘Colston hall’ after the controversial rise of Edward Colston, a late 17th century merchant trading slaves, sugar and tobacco but also donating some of his wealth to open schools and hospitals, the Colston hall was closed during the Black Lives Matters protests in 2020 and is now reborn as the Bristol Beacon.

‘Changing Paradigms’ is our topic, in other words: thinking outside the box. We will have the privilege to hear world renown experts speaking about new advances in multiple sclerosis, advanced imaging techniques and treatments for epilepsy, hopefully inspiring us to progress in our own field, and we will also, en passant, hear about the ‘augmented human’.

The Residents’ Day will be held on the 18th (Thursday) and the University of Bristol pharmacology team will lecture our residents before we can enjoy talks about ‘human factors’ to see if we can optimise well-being and overall system performance!

We look forward to seeing you all in Bristol!
